About ATELIER BB
What is the story behind my piece?

ATELIER BB was founded in 2022 in Belgium by William Baetens and Isabelle Beaumont. Together they design and produce handcrafted furniture, made with care in their Antwerp workshop. Mortex® is their signature material, a mineral finish that gives each piece its unique texture, strength, and character.

Their style is minimalist yet warm, sculptural yet functional, inspired by architectural clarity and wabi-sabi aesthetics. Every design is meant to last: timeless in form, sustainable in materials, and refined in detail. ATELIER BB’s vision is simple; to create furniture that shapes spaces, brings atmosphere, and endures beyond trends.

Can I request a custom design?

Yes! We enjoy thinking along to find the best solution for each project. Every space and every client is different, and we see it as a privilege to be part of that creative process. Depending on your needs, we can sketch new shapes, adjust proportions, or even develop custom colors to create a piece that fits perfectly into its setting.
Ordering & Lead Time
How long is the lead time for a table?
Each table is individually handcrafted in our workshop, which means production only starts once your order is confirmed. The average lead time is 10 to 14 weeks, but this may vary depending on our workshop schedule, the size of the piece, and the level of customization involved. Because every item is made to order, we do not keep stock. This way, you are guaranteed a unique piece that has been carefully crafted for you from start to finish.
Delivery & Installation
How will my table be delivered?
For all orders, we work with specialized art & furniture transporters. All pieces are professionally packed (and crated for sea or air freight) to prevent damage. Before shipping, each table is fully assembled and carefully inspected in our workshop to ensure it meets our quality standards. If you wish, we’re happy to share photos of your piece prior to packing.

What should I do if my table is damaged during transport?

Please check your piece carefully upon delivery. If you notice any damage, let us know within 24 hours and provide clear photos so we can assess the situation. This helps us resolve the issue quickly and ensure the right solution is found.

How do I install my table?

All our tables are designed for a smooth installation. Everything you need is included in the delivery: all necessary tools and clear instructions. We recommend assembling the table with 3 to 4 adults to ensure a safe and easy process. Click here for the detailed step-by-step installation guide.
Material & Finish
What is Mortex®?
Mortex® is a multifunctional mineral coating, developed by the Belgian company Beal International. It is composed of lime, cement, and a proprietary blend of natural ingredients, of which 95% are sourced from Europe.
Originally designed as a functional material, Mortex® has evolved into a refined finish widely used in contemporary furniture and interior design.

Key characteristics of Mortex®

-
Hand-applied character: Each layer is applied with great precision, creating subtle textures and variations in tone that make every piece one of a kind.
-
Mineral, warm appearance: Mortex® resembles natural stone or the traditional Moroccan Tadelakt technique, but with a softer and more luxurious look.
-
Durability and aesthetics go hand in hand: Mortex® has a dense structure that makes it water-repellant, wear-resistant, and easy to maintain. Its seamless finish gives furniture an elegant, sculptural quality while remaining practical for everyday living.
-
Aesthetic versatility: Its neutral base can be pigmented, offering an extensive palette of colours, textures, and finishes, ranging from rustic to sleek and modern. Click here for the full colour chart or contact us for a custom colour service.
Care & Use
How do I maintain a Mortex® table?
Mortex® is a durable material, but just like natural stone it needs the right care to preserve its beauty. Daily cleaning is simple: use a soft microfiber cloth with lukewarm water and a mild, pH-neutral soap. Avoid harsh or acidic cleaners such as bleach, vinegar, ammonia, or scouring pads, as they can damage the surface. Spills like wine, coffee, lemon juice, or oil should always be wiped away immediately to prevent staining.

To guarantee continued water resistance, we recommend treating your table with Bealwax® on top of the existing protective coating. This additional layer helps preserve water and stain resistance, ensuring long-lasting durability, even with intensive use.

A few preventive habits will also extend the life of your Mortex® piece: always use coasters and placemats, protect the surface from hot pans and sharp objects, and avoid leaving standing water on the surface. For outdoor furniture, we recommend using a protective cover and placing the piece in a sheltered area to prevent exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Warranty
How long is the warranty on my furniture?

All our pieces come with a 12-month warranty from the date of delivery against manufacturing defects. Each item is carefully handcrafted and thoroughly checked before leaving our workshop.

What is covered by the warranty and what is not?

The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not apply to damage caused by daily use, insufficient maintenance, accidents, or exposure to extreme weather conditions. Because Mortex® is a natural and hand-applied finish, small variations in color, texture, or dimensions are part of its unique character and not considered defects. Weather-related marks, water ingress, and normal signs of wear are also excluded.
