About ATELIER BB

ATELIER BB was founded in 2022 in Belgium by William Baetens and Isabelle Beaumont. Together they design and produce handcrafted furniture, made with care in their Antwerp workshop. Mortex® is their signature material, a mineral finish that gives each piece its unique texture, strength, and character.

Meet the founders!

Isabelle grew up in a family of artists and developed her creative path from an early age, later graduating in Architectural Design and earning a Master’s in Interior Architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. William studied Economics and Business Management and built a career in sales at a premium automotive brand, where he gained a deep appreciation for aesthetics and design as well as an entrepreneurial drive. In 2022 they decided to combine their strengths and laid the foundations for Atelier BB. From their Antwerp workshop they design and produce handcrafted furniture.
Crafting Belgian Design
All designs are developed at our headquarters. The bases are crafted by a trusted local partner, after which every piece is brought to life in our atelier. Each layer of Mortex® is applied, sanded, and finished entirely by hand. This artisanal process gives every piece its own character and allows us to maintain the highest level of quality, truly appreciated by our clients.

In Atelier BB’s mission to unite Belgian design, Belgian production, and Belgian innovation on the international stage, Mortex® has become their signature material. Mortex® is highly versatile, ranging from soft, neutral tones that bring timeless calm to bold pigments that add energy and playfulness to a space. Combined with sculptural forms, this adaptability makes it the perfect medium to create furniture that is both functional and artistic, sometimes even statement pieces that blur the line between design and art.

The studio primarily collaborates with architects and interior designers, and is steadily expanding its presence in the United States, where its work is highly valued. They enjoy co-creating with clients, exploring new forms, and offering tailored solutions for specific projects.

ATELIER BB’s style is guided by architectural clarity and the wabi-sabi philosophy, celebrating natural materials, simplicity, and effortless design. Inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s “less is more”, their pieces are minimalist yet warm, sculptural yet functional.
